Flights
Flying may not be the most carbon efficient way of getting around but it is almost always the quickest. The rise of no frills airlines has meant that even students can afford to take minibreaks to the European hotspots (the flights would probably be cheaper than your train fare home from the airport!)

That said we also recommend you consider travelling by coach or ferry as they're often cheaper and can be rather fun! It's worth noting that the Easyjets and Ryanairs aren't always the cheapest (especially if you wish to travel with luxuries like a suitcase), so do checkout (haha) the other airlines as you normally get more bang with your buck!

British Airways

The British Airways Sale is now Live! Fly London Heathrow to New York (JFK) from £299 return!

British Airways has had a hard time of it lately so if you have the opportunity to use them, do. I've found that the no-frills airlines tend to pitch their prices just below the bigger airlines, as such it could cost you just a few quid more to travel in style and comfort. British Airways fly to over 300 destinations worldwide- they don't charge baggage fees and you won't incur any additional charges if your luggage weighs within a generous 23kg allowance. British Airways allocate seats at check-in so you may choose your seats and assure yourself that you are seated with family or friends. They don't apply any extra fees for boarding first either; boarding is made by order of seat numbers. They also offer a range of check-in options to save you time. Online check-in allows you to choose your seat and print your boarding pass up to 24 hours before departure. Alternatively you may check-in at the airport with their easy to use touch-screen kiosks. Use their low price finder to find their cheapest fares and use the BA Value Calculator to compare prices with Ryan Air, Easy Jet and other low frills airlines!
