Part of the fun of being a student are those super long holidays every summer (and Christmas and Easter...) A lot of you decide it's the perfect excuse to take to the skies and go exploring, either building on your gap year experiences or in some cases making up for them if you headed straight to Uni.So, a few tips: Found a great deal on a hotel? Its always worth calling up the hotel direct and asking them if they can beat the price you've found. They may be able to as this way they don't have to pay another site commission! We also recommend this same technique with airlines. If you buy an NUS extra card for £10, upgrade it to an ISIC international card which will cost you just £1- take the card whenever you go abroad and you'll be amazed how many museums etc you'll be allowed into for free!If you haven't already got a prepaid credit card, then firstly why haven't you, and secondly going abroad is a great excuse to get one. They have no credit facility so won't let you get into debt, and in emergencies your parents can top credit up immediately from home. Check out our prepaid cards page in the Finance section for more details.
